How It Started
Mental Wellness of Florida was founded by Lisandra Hernandez Cruz, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC , with a vision to create a practice that delivers exceptional mental health care while shaping the future of the profession. Through her years of clinical experience, Lisandra saw an urgent need: too few training opportunities for students entering the psychiatric and mental health field. Without mentorship, many promising students faced delays or obstacles in completing their education and becoming licensed providers.
Determined to change this, Lisandra established Mental Wellness of Florida as both a center of care and a center of learning. She built a comprehensive preceptorship program that allows Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) students and other clinicians-in-training to gain the real-world, hands-on experience essential for their development. By combining structured learning with compassionate patient care, Lisandra ensures that Mental Wellness of Florida not only meets today’s mental health needs but also invests in tomorrow’s providers.
